Alerting the Zealous to the Consensus of the Scholars of Fiqh Regarding the Impermissible Nature of the Woman Travelling Without a Mahram

All praise is due to Allaah the Lord of all that exists, and may He raise the rank of and grant peace to His Slave and His Messenger
Muhammad, and his family and his companions and his followers.
As for what follows:
In these days the Muslims have been afflicted with many fataawa (Islamic verdicts) from those that are not from the people of fataawa via the television, radio, newspapers, magazines, and the preachers of the Muslim Brotherhood, who give fataawa which opposes the texts of the Qur’aan, the authentic Prophetic Sunnah and the consensus of the past scholars of the Muslims.
And verily, from the matters which they oppose the texts of the Legislation and the consensus of the past scholars is:
Their allowance of a woman to travel without a mahram for (the purposes of) visitation, studying, excursions, trade, or a voluntary hajj and umrah, whether by plane, train, (other forms of) mass transit, or boat.
Or (they allow them) if they are in a group from the people, or with the trustworthy from amongst the women, or a truthful sincere family member (not from the mahaarim) and their likes.
And the reason for their allowance for this travelling returns back to three affairs:
- A lack of precision when searching within the legislative affairs, or when reading the speech of the people of knowledge.
- Following the desires of the people and what they want.
- That this Mufti is affiliated with (various) groups and factions that claim they are ‘Religious’.
